Studio JCI

Client:

When photographer and editor-in-chief Anna Wolf approached us to help migrate her print magazine online, she knew exactly what she needed: a website that would preserve TIDAL's distinctive aesthetics while empowering her editorial team to work efficiently.

Solution:

We approached the challenge methodically, analyzing how different content types were interconnected. Through careful customization of Squarespace's platform, we created a system that preserved TIDAL's design standards while giving editors the flexibility they needed.

Typography:

The digital type system honors TIDAL's editorial sophistication. Feature Display Condensed, with its sharp head serifs and dynamic contrast, commands attention in headlines. Feature Text Regular handles long-form content with elegance, while Styrene A Regular brings contemporary edge to interface elements. This hierarchy maintains TIDAL's visual authority across all screen sizes.

Process:

Rather than presenting finished templates, we developed the system through close collaboration with TIDAL's Tida Tep. Each content type - from photo essays to profiles - received careful consideration. We documented everything thoroughly, creating video tutorials that showed editors how to maintain design standards while working efficiently.

"I've worked with the blue-eyed barbarian studio’s team on four websites. Each site was executed flawlessly, on time and with great efficiency. They are a super talented bunch—always bringing a sharp eye to the design details, and always with a willingness to problem solve any challenge."
